I couldn’t be more satisfied with the education this school has provided my children

My daughter is given plenty of opportunity for advanced classes, the teachers actually provide real world assignments/learning, and they care about her well-being.

This school is absolutely terrible when it comes to needs of students with disabilities. The assistant principal had zero care for the disabilities my son had and was condescending during 504 meetings. The math teacher Lives in the 1980’s and if every child doesn’t fit into her box she will fail you. That box includes paper after paper of fill in the blanks and study reviews. Even when student showed proficiency she downgraded until he did review packets. We moved to get our children out of the school. I emailed the principal and never even received an email back. Equity for all students and meeting them where they learn is what Virginia Beach is supposed to be about. This school falls very short. Don’t let the pretty building fool you, it was a terrible 2 years for my son.

AOA has been a godsend for our student! The teachers care deeply about his wellbeing (and that of his classmates) and pay close attention to individual student needs. They have built an inclusive and welcoming environment in the classroom and throughout the school, and give parents the opportunity to engage in a way that works for them. AOA is an incredible environment and we're so glad we chose it for our child.

I hate to have to do this but it is time. The County provides each child with the resources they need to excel if the parents are disciplined enough to make their children do the work. My problem with MAES is that a lot of poor behavior is swept under the rug and children are being CONSTANTLY bullied by other children. My son had the worst experience in Kindergarten and it is already starting again. They know who the children are but it's a long process when it comes to having true action taken. Too many passes are given when you look a certain way. It's shameful. People always have something smart to say about inner city kids but the truth is the suburb kids are no better. They throw tantrums, strike other kids etc. and their parents are never held accountable as they should be. It's easy to say this is an awesome school but everyone has a different definition for that word. Awesome compared to what? You can tell the teachers are tired and under supported and the parents are tapped out at home because there are constant issues with bullying by these bratty children. The day we move will be the happiest day of my life. The same problem I had with a child last year (a couple months ago) another mom is having with that same child striking her child now. But again, when you look a certain way you're given pass after pass.

Very unprofessional your child is just a number with a paycheck. Stay far away from this school.

Excellent school where teachers show they care about students.

We love The Calverton School. We have 2 students (4th and pre-K4) students who attend, and LOVE IT. The education is top notch! The teachers and staff really make your kids feel welcome and loved. We are going into our 5th year, and we are thankful every day we chose this school for our children. Highly recommend The Calverton School to anyone.

The teachers are good, but it is a rigorous and a competitive environment. It is not easy to fit in if you are new. There is limited assistance if the student is experiencing social challenges. Unfortunately I have found the counselor unhelpful in resolving any issues. We moved to the area for this school and it has been disappointing so far.

principle didn’t know how to be in charge so he took away all senior privileges. school just taught kids to be stuck up!

looks more like a childcare than a real school. no system or educational platform!

What kind of school is this. Maybe the learning is good but the kids?? My girlfriend got shamed for their size by two kids in 8th grade. My girlfriend is in 8th as well. SOMEONE IN THIS SCHOOL NEEDS TO CONTROL THEIR STUDENTS. My girlfriend is severely insecure about their body and your petty students didn’t help. I know it’s not Entirely the schools fault but come on. Listen to what your students have to say. Williston has mean students.

My child has been attending highview elementary school for 2 years. All staff have been kind and helpful. social/emotional support has been a blessing at struggling times. Many fun activities.

I had several kids attend a total of 5 years of high school here. We witnessed systemic cronyism and preferential treatment for those with money, prestige and connections - plum leadership opportunities on clubs and teams and many instances of "grace" for doing drugs, having sex (on campus!), or other infractions. My kids lost their faith here, thanks to the hypocrisy. Multiple examples of good, decent kids (and even staff) mistreated and harshly punished by school admin due to hearsay, rumor or minor issues. There are wonderful teachers and decent people who try to make a difference, but beware.
